These cards help children learn about adaptations and how animals move. They show 14 mammals at rest, and then the same animals during movement. Text cards direct children’s observations and give them information about each animal. Children learn what adaptations are and about the kinds of adaptations mammals have that enable them to move in many ways. The examples include adaptations for running, jumping, flying, digging, and swimming. After children have become familiar with the animals and their adaptations, the cards provide material for several other lessons. Compare how animals are alike and different. Sort the cards by adaptation. The set includes three cards for comparing bones in mammal limbs and seven header cards for sorting. The 14 text cards are to be cut into two parts.
